The amazing R2 can be found sometimes in thrift stores and usually they don’t work or maybe they work a little.
You need to be careful because many of them are so old and maybe made a certain way back then…that the wires inside will be rotten and falling apart.
Two that I purchased did start to smell funny and I did notice after I took it apart that the wires were crumbling and it did have a stink.
