Will Huff has been making really informative and amazing DIY robot videos on Youtube since at least 2011.
He’s 3d printed most of the parts for his sometimes quirky (Alan & Alena) and sometimes serious (droid & bar tending robots) and others and has a wealth of information about open source software, choosing the right servos for your project and all around making things work!
You can see him designing and printing his parts and then gluing, using the dremel and painting his works of art and putting his Arduinos to work with the moving servos.

The EZ robot company still makes great products but the founder moved on to form the Synthiam company which produces amazing robot control software for the most part.
